Today is a good friend of mine's birthday. I can't join in on the Nerd Festivities, so I thought that I would bake them a cake of pure awesome AKA Yellow cake with Chocolate frosting (as per the birthday boy's request.) Joy of baking is definitely my go to website for basic recipes.
At the Flea Market we bought a pair of Steins for my friend's birthday (we celebrated later that night at Stubbies.)

This was an attempt to try a new finals technique: Study the bare minimum for the easier finals to avoid burnout before the harder ones. Good thing a few of my classes have a 3.6 curve! I thought that that the shopping trip would take my mind off finals. (Ugh 5 of them!)
It had to be easy and quick. At first I was going to make Fairy Bread, but then I decided to have Cinnamon Toast instead.

Ingredients:

2 Tbs Sugar
3 Tsp Cinnamon
1.5 Tbs Softened Butter
2 Slices Bread

Preheat over to 375.

Using Aluminum foil, make a box big enough to fit two slices of bread.

Spread the butter over one side of each slice of bread. Use .75 Tbs of butter per slice. If you have big slices, you may need more butter. Make sure the bread is completely covered.

Take the Sugar and Cinnamon and mix it together in a small bowl. If you think you want more sugar or cinnamon, add it now. Taste it to make sure it is the right combo of flavor for you.

Sprinkle half of the sugar mixture on each slice of bread.

Put into the oven for 11 to 14 minutes until the sugar starts to look bubbly/crunchy.

Let it cool for a couple of minutes.

Enjoy with some Chamomile tea or white wine!

I was so excited to eat it that I forget to take pics of the full finished product !
My mosquito-bite-ridden legs say summer. In Gainesville, I guess it is a bit of both.

Finals start in one week, but I more focused on not clawing my eyes out or not ripping off all the skin on my legs than on text books and outlines.

The unusually harsh winter disrupted the pollen cycle of many of the plants here, so everything is pollinating at once. The crazy weather must've also changed the mosquito breeding cycle. Some how the little creatures manage to bite me through my clothes.

You say that Evidence is happening right now and I should pay attention?....Stephaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13198806899454643866noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4785420004106144491.post-23889548106520907352010-04-15T09:43:00.000-05:002010-04-15T09:43:30.369-05:00My 25th Birthday, Harry Potter StyleI wanted to throw a big theme bash for my 25th Birthday this year. Sometime in December (4 months before my birthday) I chose a Harry Potter theme. After months of brainstorming, planning and shopping, it all finally came together. I had a crew of my awesome friends to put everything together. Here are the results:
I made these invitations in Photoshop and printed them on Ivory colored "resume" paper. I had bought the paper for my Wedding Save the Dates, so it was something I had on hand.
Simple as that.

I recently started reading a lot of blogs. Mostly due to Google Reader. It consumes a lot of my time. As in, all of my free time is spent keeping up with blogs. But every time I'm sitting here reading them, I think "I can do that."

However, I really don't ever have much to say. I love to craft. I love to bake and cook. I enjoy sewing as well. This summer I am taking on several big projects:

1. Summer Externship: I'm working on a civil rights case and I'm very excited about it.
2. Researching my article: I'm writing an article (hopefully will get it published). I am spending the summer doing research for this.
3. A job?: I need a paying job. Hopefully I find one.
4. Wedding: YES! I am getting married this summer. I have tons of DIY projects and planning still left on the horizon. Unfortunately law school doesn't leave much time for Wedding Planning.
5. The Tom Baker Scarf: Do I really need a reason? I hate knitting, but can tolerate it for a few months at a time, and I do find it relaxing. We'll see how far into the 12-15 feet I actually get.
6. The Great Reorganization and Garage Sale: Over winter break, I decided to reorganize ALL of my belongings. I quickly realized that I have too much stuff. Also, I caught the flu half way through the project and never finished it. I will finish it this summer and ideally would like to have a garage sale before the wedding.

This blog, for now, will be about these projects. We'll see if/how it develops over time.Stephaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13198806899454643866noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4785420004106144491.post-22482020930115232642009-03-27T10:57:00.002-05:002009-03-27T11:02:06.115-05:00ChangesOriginally I started this blog to be somewhat of a tech blog, like Penny Arcade. But life got in the way, and that never took off. I have tried a few times to ressurect, but really, I have lost interest in that kind of style blogging.

Years ago, I had a livejournal. I stopped posting a while ago, even though I still browse different communities. I kind of want to return to that concept of blog. Just a day to day kind of thing.

I spend a lot of time at school and have picked up new hobbies recently. Things are going great. I will try to update more.

PS I will probably be changing the layout and such soon.
Stephaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13198806899454643866noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4785420004106144491.post-18856346115156080392009-03-17T12:42:00.001-05:002009-03-17T12:42:35.621-05:00Bento ContestBento Contest Giveaway Thingy

http://notexactlybento.com/?p=1289

Stephaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13198806899454643866noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4785420004106144491.post-59277475953381891272009-02-13T09:28:00.002-05:002009-02-13T09:36:40.119-05:00Quentin Tarantino is my Nemsis!!!!!!!!!!11!!!!Quentin Tarantino is my nemesis.

1. Quentin Tarantino's face is very troll like. Like I want to Frostbolt it and loot its body for frostweave.

2. His voice is like stabs in my brain. Why are you so screechy, Quentin Tarantino?

3. Quentin Tarantino is a hack. He takes totally awesome ideas, that have already been done before, and just smashes them together. Then he disembowels the chronology and glues it back together haphazardly. Finally, he slaps on random celebrities to play the parts.

4. This is the most important reason. I always like his movies. It always just makes me die a little inside when I see a Quentin Tarantino movie and I like it. Why are you so good and yet a hack? Quentin Tarantino is the Andy Warhol of movies and that makes me sad.
Stephaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13198806899454643866noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4785420004106144491.post-57054010595155380222009-02-09T13:39:00.003-05:002009-02-09T13:50:44.342-05:00UpdateWell it has been about a month since my last post. I really have been meaning to post more, but I have been busy. Things with Jon are okay, his job is overtaking life and it is driving me crazy. Hopefully things will calm down soon.

Megacon is approaching, so expect a big post for that.

I have been working on my con outfits. Becuase of my weight gain, I'm not cosplaying this year. But I am going to be dressing lolita. You'll see once I get back from con.

The Music Law Conference is also rapidly approaching, and I am on the committee for that, so the stress over is starting to build. Couple that with weekly softball games and my volunteering, and little time is left for much else. I hardly have the energy to get a couple songs in on the Rock Band, let alone finish a quest.

I want to try to convince Jon for us to take a mini vacation this weekend to the beach or something. (Prices are low because it is the off season.) We just need a change of scenery and an opportunity to just relax and not think about our responsibilities. But we are going out of town for Megacon, so we'll see what happens.

I will try to update again before Megacon, but it is doubtful just because this is going to be a busy month.

Toodles!
Stephaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13198806899454643866noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4785420004106144491.post-56809200195542817052009-01-06T22:45:00.002-05:002009-01-06T22:47:51.184-05:00Miami was oh sunny...But its nice to be back home.

I'm back in the 'Ville. I have just been exhausted lately. Not to mention GH4 is stealing all my free time (not that I should have free time to begin with anyway.)

I have decided to go the home made gift route for some people because of lack of fundage. However, I don't really have time/energy to work on these. Cookies are easy though, just cut and bake. (Once the dough has properly chilled of course.) Once the holiday season is over and I have more time, expect more/better posts.
Stephaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13198806899454643866noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4785420004106144491.post-13281411104530354082008-11-13T11:47:00.001-05:002008-11-13T11:49:07.903-05:00Here, have some cakeMmmm....

The frosting still needs work. I even found a leveling guide. Normally, I think these kinds of things take away from the game experience; however, after unsuccessfully trying to level a bunch of chars just becuase I don't have it in me, and successfully leveling my mage, I figure I've earned the right to use such a guide.

I tried to log in around 11 AM and was unable to. I think it is quite perfect; 50's in the morning, 70's in the afternoon.

I recently have become obssessed with Lolita Fashion. I guess part of me has always liked it, mostly because of my love of cute things. But now I have a name to the style. I have been reading forums and trolling LJ communities dedicated to the fashion so that I don't horribly screw it up when I try to put together my own outfits.

Its that time of year to start thinking about Megacon. I wish I could take part in Paranoia this year, but I am barred! Me thinks some people need to act like grownups and grow the eff up. In any case, I may actually finish the Yuna and Sakura costumes I've been "working on" forever now. I need something to break the monotony of Law School. I also want to start working on a Lolita outfit to wear one of the days. There is this huge emphasis on "Brand name" clothing in Lolita, but I want to prove that you can make a kick ass thrift store Lolita costume. Also, I'm lazy and don't want to have to do so much sewing and cutting and hunting for the proper patterns. I want to do something along the lines of casual or country lolita, probably a brown JSK with some strawberry accents.

I have been procrastinating my outline/study process for finals coming up. I've never had to study in my life, so this is a bit surreal. I'm fairly sure its impossible to fail law school, but a B would be nice.

WotLK comes out this week. I'm going to start playing again, even if I only have time to be a casual player. I just feel like I don't do anything except go to class and watch TV. I'm also going to start working out a bit. I have to meet with a personal trainer this week, so that I have some sort of semi effective routine. There is also a roller derby team that I want to be a part of, but certain people may be standing in the way of that as well.

I suppose that is all for now. I'm going to make a good faith effort to keep this updated, but no promises.
Stephaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13198806899454643866noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4785420004106144491.post-64567525151094067032008-09-30T09:39:00.001-05:002008-09-30T09:40:10.209-05:001.5 years laterMy blog has fallen into total neglect. Sunday at MegaconSunday: The last day of Megacon. As much fun as I had been having, I was getting exhausted, and was eager to return to Gainesville. I arrived in the dealer room. I was on a mission today. It was the last day of con and I had yet to acquire my batarangs. Anxiously I marched towards the booth selling them. Many of their wares were gone, half the glass cases were empty. I couldn't spot them. Oh noes! What if they were sold out?? My heart sank momentarily. Then, there they were, buried among some brass knuckles. One set of two. $10. SOLD. I handed my MasterCard, they handed me the shiny, black, bat-shaped blades. I squealed with excitement. I put them in my Darth back pack and moved onwards.

I meandered through the rest of the dealer's room. Looking for anything, anything at all which caught my eye. I was starting to think that I wasn't going to find anything. That I was actually going to leave with some money left in my pocket. Then I spotted a group of younglings looking at some WoW TCG cards. I don't actually play the WoW TCG, or any TCG for that matter, but there was one card I had been wanting for some time. The baby hippogryph. I had done some eBay searches and only ever found it for like $100. I didn't want it that much. But this man had piqued my curiosity. I inquired briefly if they had it. Expecting to hear a no from the dealer, I heard him say yes! SQUEEE! I asked the price; it was probably going to be out of my budget. "$29". Wow! Not a bad deal at all. In fact, a great deal. I managed to get him down to $25, paid the man, and walked away a happy girl. Now, you may be thinking that paying $25 for an in game pet that is completely useless is quite a wasteful endeavor. However, it was just too cute to pass up.

As we continued our leisurely stroll, we noticed that Sean Astin, the cutest of the hobbits, was there. I wanted desperately to meet him, however, not desperately enough to pay $20. Its a ridiculous expectation to have to pay money to meet a person. Whatever.

The rest of the afternoon was fairly uneventful. There was some anime to be seen to be seen. GunBuster and DieBuster to be exact. I found GunBuster to be rather nonsensical yet highly amusing. But then again, who doesn't find overly bouncy teenage boobs amusing? DieBuster was sort of the bastardized sequel to the series, taking place 15 years later. DieBuster's plot made a tad more sense, and contained many more boobies and upskirts. My kind of show! Then Michael and I watched about an hour's worth of upcoming movie trailers. I love trailers, so I really enjoyed that.

After media was consumed by all and our pocketbooks were empty, we headed on our way out. But first we stopped for a minute to roll down a ramp. Now, you may be wondering why we engaged in such bizzare behavior. To understand this you must realize that we live in Florida, which is very flat. Therefore, anything resembling a hill must be rolled down. Even if its carpeted, and indoors, and in a convention center, and I'm wearing a skirt.Stephaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13198806899454643866noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4785420004106144491.post-48903588678049617432007-02-20T18:52:00.000-05:002007-02-20T21:36:19.768-05:00Costumes and LARPs and Nerds, OH MY! Saturday at MegaconSaturday: Hectic...I think that is the best word to describe this day. After oversleeping, passing the highway, getting lost, discovering that International Drive hates U-turns, and parking in the wrong concourse then having to take a bus to the right one we finally arrived at the convention. It was approximately 1 PM. Our meeting time for Paranoia LIVE was 11 AM. Oops. Already people were lining up for officer training which wasn't until 1:30 PM. As I prepped my station, 2 o'clock inched nearer and I became apprehensive. This was, after all, my first Paranoia LARP as a full fledged GM, with my own secret society and missions and everything.

Two o'clock arrived and the victims....I mean players....arrived as well. After a brief introduction by James they split up into the secret societies. As I went on to explain our overall plan for this year's game to the players, it struck me that I had no idea what the story line was all about. I was so confused. So, I explained as best I could and sent my little guys off to their teams.

The rest of the game was fairly uneventful. Several passersby decided that I looked good enough for a picture. Two teams brought me valentine's made at the lovely PLC. I managed to kill several players, including one whole team for forging their paperwork. Tsk tsk!

At last, after 3 hours or so of standing around, assigning missions, and collecting hydraulic screwdrivers, it was time for the final battle. I had little sense of what was going on though. The story line still eluded me. Finally, as the grenade slaughters wound down, the story arc made sense. I was losing. My secret society was on the brink of failure. I did what any respectable leader would do. I immediately accused Michael of cheating. I suppose it was one last ditch effort to win it for my team. Mischa and I, allied in our causes, tried to push our remaining survivors by finding them mutant powers and more grenades, but victory escaped us; FCCCP won the game.

Medals were handed out, as were prizes, to the winning teams and MVPs of each secret society. The best player of the game escaped with a copy of the Paranoia tabletop handbook. 'Twas a successful Paranoia LARP. HUZZAH!

After cleanup and such we scurried in the chilly weather to Red Lobster, where we waited for over an hour, but got a nice booth. The service sucked so I stole a plate. We returned to the con to attended the Cyberia Dance Party. Apparently dry-humping to moderately paced Asian techno music is quite the popular thing to do here.

Exhausted, we departed. My wallet felt no lighter as I didn't buy anything today either. I passed out comfortably at Justin's house, and anxiously awaited the final day of Megacon.Stephaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13198806899454643866noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4785420004106144491.post-40251089572767303452007-02-19T22:55:00.000-05:002007-02-19T23:55:22.572-05:00Costumes and LARPs and Nerds, OH MY! Friday at MegaconThis past weekend was the glorious Megacon. Three days of anime, gaming and comics fun.

Friday: I dressed up as Sakaki from Azumanga Daioh. The costume was a grand success. Many came up to me for hugs and giggles. It could've been from recognition of the character; however, it could've also been the lack of pants-age.

One of the first things I did was go down to the Artists section. I got to meet Tim Buckley, creator of Ctrl-Alt-Del, one of my favorite internet comics. He was a really nice guy. Again, it might've just been the lack of pants.

The dealer room was just as I had expected: most of the vendors were selling comics. There were, however, there were booths of other wares. I was astonished at the amount of pointless yet amazingly cute objects. Apparently a 2 inch tall PVC figurine of a cat in a jar is worth $6.00 and will sell out by Sunday. To my surprise there were no hentai manga booths this year. Usually there are at least a couple booths, swarming with 16 year old girls buying Yaoi. I did find one porno/video hentai booth. No one was near it save for one 10 year old looking at the DVD covers. I wonder where his parents were...

During my initial walk through the dealer room, nothing caught my eye right away. However, my dear friend Juan ran up to me to inform me of a booth selling batarangs. I had mentioned earlier that I wasn't going home that weekend without a set of them. I walked briskly over to that side of the floor and found them there: shiny, sharp and heavy. Just what i wanted. I inquired on the price. (I had promised myself I wouldn't spend more than $30 on them.) They were only $5 each. SCORE! I continued to browse, assuring myself that if I waited till Sunday I could haggle for cheaper.

Efren Ramirez was there, as was Lou Ferrigno. It was $20 to get to meet Efren though. I think celebrities shouldn't charge their fans. If it wasn't for the fans, they wouldn't be where they are. What a selfish thing to do.

The day ended with me not buying much of anything at all, and spending a considerable amount of time wandering around doing nothing or working the gaming booth for Paranoia sign-ups.

Stephaniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13198806899454643866noreply@blogger.com1
